Senior Portrait Session in Sydney

Senior Portrait Session in Sydney - From Montana to Sydney

When Alex’s mum first reached out to book a Senior Portrait Session in Sydney, she already knew this trip would be something special. Alex, a talented high school senior from Montana, was travelling to Australia to perform at the Sydney Opera House with his violin – a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Alongside celebrating this incredible musical milestone, she also wanted to mark his final year of high school with senior portraits that captured who Alex is at this stage of life – thoughtful, accomplished and full of quiet confidence.

We met early one morning whilst Sydney was still quiet. The soft morning light, peaceful harbour, and sails of the Opera House created a magical setting. Alex brought his violin along, and those first quiet portraits – just him, his music and Sydney – are some of my favourites.

As soon as we began the session, it was clear: Alex’s calm, focused energy came through beautifully in front of the camera. We started with a few close-up portraits – natural and expressive shots. One of my favourite moments was when Alex played his violin with a backdrop of the Opera House. It was simple and special – just him, the music and that unforgettable setting.

As we wandered beside the harbour chatting, I discovered more about the many sides of Alex. He’s thoughtful and multi-talented, with passions that span beyond music. He’s an active member of his school’s environmental club, and he’s also a dedicated tennis and golf player. His interests are wide-ranging, with a steady confidence that grounds him – and it came through in every portrait.

It’s always such a joy to photograph seniors visiting from overseas – especially as they step into their final year of high school. There’s something so meaningful about capturing this moment while they’re out exploring the world and making big memories. Alex brought a quiet confidence, warmth and thoughtfulness to his session, and I felt lucky to document this part of his story.

Sandy, Jasen and Alex – I hope you enjoy this little sneak peek. I can’t wait to share the full photo gallery with you very soon!

If you’re visiting Australia and would love to capture your teen’s senior portraits while you’re in Sydney, I’d love to help. Whether we shoot at the Opera House, beside the harbour or on one of Sydney’s beautiful beaches, my goal is to create portraits that feel relaxed, natural and true to who they are.
