For beach sessions, the best light is in the late afternoon, about an hour before sunset, to capture the stunning golden glow of the evening.

Typically, sessions last about an hour - perhaps a bit shorter with younger kids. For surprise proposals, the session may be shorter as we focus on the big moment, but I can also extend the time for special requests or larger family sessions
