A Sunset Proposal on the Steps of the Sydney Opera House - Nick & Kara
Nick and Kara were visiting Australia for the very first time. They had arrived in Sydney that morning, and by the evening, Nick had a very special surprise planned. As the sun began to set over Sydney Harbour, he proposed to Kara on the steps of the Sydney Opera House. It was quite a way to begin their Australian adventure. 💍
A Surprise Proposal at the Sydney Opera House
With the Opera House sails behind them and Sydney Harbour stretching into the distance, the setting was unmistakably Sydney.
Nick had chosen a place that would make their first evening in Australia even more memorable. As he asked Kara to marry him, I was there to capture the moment and the reactions that followed.
Once the surprise had sunk in, we took some photographs around the Opera House and harbour, giving them a chance to enjoy the excitement of their engagement while documenting the beginning of this new chapter together.
Engagement Portraits Around Sydney Harbour
The following morning, I met Nick and Kara again for an engagement portrait session around Sydney Harbour.
Photographing them on a second day gave us the opportunity to explore the harbour in a different light and create a broader collection of images from their time in Sydney. We photographed around the city's iconic landmarks, with views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge providing a beautiful backdrop.
The two sessions offered something different: the spontaneous emotion of the proposal at sunset, followed by a relaxed morning together around the harbour.
A Special Beginning to Their Australian Adventure
For Nick and Kara, their first visit to Australia began with a surprise engagement in one of Sydney's most recognisable locations. Having the proposal photographed, followed by portraits the next morning, meant they could look back on both the moment itself and the time they spent exploring the city together.
