Sydney Harbour Family Photoshoot – Muhammad & Afiqah’s Family from Singapore
It was such a pleasure to meet Muhammad, Afiqah and their family during their visit to Sydney from Singapore. In the days leading up to their session, we were keeping a close eye on the forecast as Sydney had been having quite a bit of rain. Thankfully, the skies cleared just in time and we were treated to a beautiful morning around Sydney Harbour.
We met near Circular Quay and wandered around the harbour together, capturing a relaxed mix of family portraits and natural moments along the way. The little ones were so much fun to photograph, with plenty of cheeky smiles and their own little personalities coming through.
There was such a lovely connection between everyone in the family, and it was particularly special having Muhammad's parents and sister there as well. It made the session feel like a real family gathering rather than simply a photoshoot.
A Family Photoshoot Around Sydney Harbour
One of the things I love about photographing families around Sydney Harbour is that there is so much variety within a relatively small area. We can capture photographs with the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge in the background, but also find quieter spots where the focus is simply on the family together.
For families visiting Sydney from overseas, I think this makes the harbour such a special place for photographs. You get the beautiful family portraits, but you also have a real sense of where you were and what you were doing together.
And with an extended family session, there are even more stories to capture. Grandparents with the grandchildren, siblings together, parents with their children and, of course, photographs of everyone in one frame.
A Little Connection to Singapore
This session was also particularly meaningful to me because I spent four years of my own childhood living in Singapore.
I always enjoy meeting families from Singapore, and it was lovely chatting with Muhammad and Afiqah about their visit to Sydney. Having that little connection made the morning feel even more familiar.
Capturing Their Sydney Memories
The weather couldn't have worked out better in the end. After all the rain we had been watching in the forecast, we were rewarded with a beautiful Sydney morning and some gorgeous light around the harbour.
I love that their gallery will have more than just photographs of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. There are the photographs of everyone together, the little interactions between family members, the children's personalities and all those moments in between.
Those are the photographs that help bring you back to how the trip actually felt.
