Surprise Proposal at Lady Macquarie’s Chair, Sydney | Fabrizio & Jacquelyn
When Fabrizio contacted me from Denver, he was planning a surprise proposal during his holiday in Sydney with his girlfriend, Jacquelyn. He wanted to choose somewhere special, with beautiful views of the harbour and the Sydney landmarks that make this city so memorable.
Lady Macquarie’s Chair was a lovely choice, with views across Sydney Harbour towards the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
Earlier that day, steady rain had made the weather a little uncertain. Thankfully, the skies cleared in time for the proposal, leaving us with a beautifully dramatic afternoon. It was windy, but the changing light and open harbour views made a wonderful setting for what was to come.
And then, the moment arrived.
With Sydney Harbour behind them, Fabrizio got down on one knee. Jacquelyn was completely surprised as she realised what was happening, and her reaction said everything. Through the tears and smiles, she said yes.
It was a lovely moment to photograph, made all the more special by the setting and the thought Fabrizio had put into planning it.
A Surprise Proposal at Lady Macquarie’s Chair
Lady Macquarie’s Chair is a popular choice for couples wanting to propose with Sydney’s most recognisable landmarks in the background. The harbour views create a distinctly Sydney setting, with the Opera House and Harbour Bridge both visible from the area.
For couples visiting from overseas, it can also be a wonderful way to bring together a special occasion and the experience of exploring Sydney.
The location and light can change throughout the day, and it is worth considering the timing, weather and number of people around when planning a proposal. I work through these details with you beforehand, helping you choose a suitable position and plan how I can photograph the moment discreetly.
Congratulations again, Fabrizio and Jacquelyn. Thank you for trusting me to photograph such a special part of your Sydney visit.
