Sydney Harbour Family Photoshoot – Celebrating Connor’s Graduation
It was such a pleasure to meet Melissa and her family during their visit to Sydney from Denver, Colorado. They were travelling to Australia to celebrate a very special family milestone: Connor's graduation.
There was an extra special reason for Connor to be excited about the trip too. He had wanted to visit Sydney since he was just four years old, so finally seeing the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in person was something the whole family was looking forward to.
We met around Sydney Harbour for their family photoshoot, making the most of the beautiful surroundings and capturing photographs to remember this very special time together.
Celebrating a Graduation in Sydney
Graduation is such an exciting milestone, and I loved that Melissa and her family chose to celebrate it together while travelling in Australia.
We captured a mixture of family portraits, photographs of Connor on his own and plenty of natural moments between everyone. Having the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in the background made the photographs feel very connected to their Sydney adventure, while the focus was still very much on the family and the occasion they were celebrating.
There was a lovely sense of pride throughout the session, particularly from Melissa. It was one of those occasions where you could really see how much the milestone meant to everyone.
Family Portraits Around Sydney Harbour
One of the things I love about photographing families around Sydney Harbour is the variety we can create within one session.
We can capture the classic photographs with the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, but also move around the harbour for more relaxed portraits and moments between family members.
For a milestone like a graduation, I also like to make sure there are photographs that focus on the graduate. These can be more traditional portraits, along with photographs that show their personality and the people who have been there supporting them along the way.
For Connor, having Sydney as the backdrop made the photographs even more meaningful. After wanting to visit since he was four, he finally had his own Sydney memories to take home with him.
A Special Sydney Memory
I think that's one of the lovely things about having photographs taken while you're travelling. They become part of the story of the trip, rather than simply being photographs taken in a particular location.
For Melissa and her family, these photographs will always remind them of their trip to Australia, Connor's graduation and the excitement of finally seeing Sydney together.
And of course, having the Opera House and Harbour Bridge in the photographs means there will never be any doubt about where this particular chapter of their family story took place.
