INTRODUCING SARAH IRIS PHOTOGRAPHY

After 15 years of Sarah Gardan Photography it's time to embrace the next chapter and evolve to Sarah Iris Photography.

WHY YOU MIGHT ASK?

I've been Sarah Gardan for many moons, but it's actually my married name and when I separated I chose to remain Sarah Gardan so I would share the same name as my three beautiful children.

Given my portrait photography business was Sarah Gardan Photography it made sense to continue as that name having photographed numerous portraits for families, couples and babies in both Sydney, Paris, London, Dubai over the past 15 years.

Fast forward a few years - after being hacked, loosing my website; my sarahgardan.com domain; my beloved blog of 10 years; all my SEO; enduring a global pandemic and a particularly painful divorce process, it's become clear it's time to let go of the past and embrace the future. So I'm now evolving and leaning in to my next chapter.

WHY SARAH IRIS?

Iris was my maternal grandmother. I was raised by my mother and it's a lovely tribute to my maternal side. Interestingly my grandmother Iris passed away the very same year I started my photography business back in 2008.

I've always loved floral names - both my girls have flower middle names - Lily and Rose. Over the years I've toyed with taking 'Iris' as a middle name. Chatting with a gorgeous friend on day overlooking Bondi Beach it hit me - why not adopt 'Sarah Iris' as my full name - shedding the past and embracing the future.

There's something very empowering about choosing your own name.

THE SISTERHOOD

When I thought about my name options I wasn't overly inspired. Firstly I could keep my ex husband's name, secondly I could revert to my father's name or thirdly I could potentially take my partner's name if and when we marry in the future.

It felt like a lot of male energy and a very outdated range of options.

Instead I've decided to embrace the sisterhood and the choice feels incredibly empowering. Amazingly my children, partner and family have been incredibly supportive and have embraced the new name.

And so 'Sarah Iris Photography' begins and I get back to my passion of photography. I'm excited to get back to my happy place of taking photos. Feel free to drop a comment below or take a peak at the Sarah Iris Photography website below and hopefully we can connect for a shoot sometime in the future.

Photography sessions are available in France, Australia, UK, Europe and worldwide. Currently booking Paris Fall Sessions in Oct / Nov 2023  +  Paris & Europe Spring 2024.
