Solo Portraits at Sydney Opera House for Nancy's 35th Birthday

When Nancy travelled to Sydney from Dubai to celebrate her 35th birthday, she wanted to mark the occasion with something a little different. Having photographs taken at the Sydney Opera House gave her the chance to celebrate her birthday while experiencing one of Sydney's most iconic locations.

It was also Nancy's first professional photoshoot, so I wanted the session to feel relaxed from the beginning. We met at Sydney Harbour in the morning, explored the area around the Opera House and created a collection of natural portraits as we went.

Celebrating a Birthday in Sydney

There was something lovely about Nancy choosing to celebrate her birthday while travelling. Rather than simply taking photographs of the Opera House, the session gave her the opportunity to be part of the setting and create portraits that captured her time in Sydney.

The morning light was beautiful, and with the harbour, Opera House and Harbour Bridge around us, we had plenty of different backdrops to work with.

I guided Nancy throughout the session, helping her with posing and movement while giving her plenty of room to relax and enjoy the experience. The result was a collection of portraits that felt polished but still natural to her.

Her First Professional Photoshoot

Nancy had never had a professional photoshoot before, so she wasn't sure what to expect from the experience.

This is something I hear from clients quite often. You don't need to know how to pose or feel completely comfortable in front of a camera before your session. I'll guide you throughout, with simple direction and different ideas as we move around the location.

Sarah is very professional and friendly, and she makes you feel confident so that the photos turn out natural and beautiful. It was my first experience in front of a professional camera and I really enjoyed it."

A Relaxed Sydney Harbour Portrait Session

Sydney Harbour gave us so much variety within one location. We moved between the Opera House, the harbour foreshore and different viewpoints around the area, creating portraits that felt different from one another while still telling the story of the same morning.

I love photographing around the Opera House because there are so many ways to create portraits without every photograph looking the same. The architecture, water, Harbour Bridge and surrounding spaces all give us something different to work with.
